Power of Embracing Brokenness
A saying spoken by elders was: someone who is broken knows their true value.
The elders viewed brokenness as an asset and a test of character. They believed that someone who is broken know their true value.
Brokenness comes in every shape and form. As individuals we would have been through broken hearts , betrayals , disappointments and more.
Organisations would have been through similar challenges where they would have survived tough times, broken partnerships, challenging relationships and many more.
While looking for relationships or business partnerships, the elders viewed the evidence of brokenness as a litmus test. This character has a deeper meaning. Here are a few things that we can explore:
Individuals who are truly broken truly respect and value each other. This is evidenced in terms of basic human values like humility, honesty, self reflection and more.
These value develop and recognise the true strengths in each other and helps individuals grow closer over a period of time
Organisations that have been broken are said to demonstrate true understanding of themselves, they are clear on their purpose and remain true to the vision. These organisations are known to radiate their purpose and attract those similar to them.
These characteristics demonstrate the true strength of the organisation and most importantly elude trust and honesty. This helps organisations be aware of themselves, navigate tough challenges and many more.
In a world where we are tuned to look for perfection, greatness in relationships we will gain a lot by embracing the true value of brokenness
This would be reflected in the following:
Individuals acknowledging they are not ‘perfect’ they look for opportunities to make each other whole.
Teams being humble and working together where everyone is appreciative of each other and respectful of individual experiences
A co creation or collaborative space where we are not afraid of constraints but have the ability to see the true opportunities that lie beyond
Relationships that are deeper and meaningful which is reflected in those serving each other with truth, trust and honesty
Organisations that are truly aware and aligned with their purpose and higher mission. These organisations are not afraid of sharing their challenges, embrace the constraints and attract those they are intended to attract.
Partnerships that are geneuine. These partners value each other and put their relationships beyond contracts
In a world where we are tuned to look for perfection and great scores, we will gain a lot by being open to the true brokenness.
Ancient wisdom has plenty of applications in our modern world, we will continue to explore and share as we #maketheworldabetterplace.
