Collaborate over Compete
A key value that the elders believed in was: It is always better to collaborate than to compete.
The value is powerful and is deep rooted in values and beliefs. Modern science of positive intelligence indicates that a 10 percent overlap in a common interest is a stable ground to collaborate.
I have experienced that the elders from the trading background actively look for opportunities to collaborate with a competitor or a potential competitor. They believed that making the first step to actively collaborate is peaceful, sustainable and far beneficial in the long run.
Here are a few scenarios that we will explore further on the potential collaboration:
💜The story Nike, who entered a safe space which was previously held exclusive by Puma and Adidas well known brands with a safe market.
💜Ford who was declined an opportunity to collaborate with Ferrari ended up with Shelby Ford (an amazing story in itself)
💜Lamborghini who was not seen as a equal partner for collaboration, eventually became a competition for Ferrari.
There are more stories from history that open a brand new world of wisdom and knowledge.
In life and work, when there are competing priorities, projects, ideas or stakeholders look for an opportunity to collaborate. These may open unexpected doors, create partnerships and more importantly achieve outcomes beyond current comprehension.
We look forward to hearing more from you on this topic.
